Delta
A brainwave ranging from 2-4 Hertz. Delta, the deepest of the brainwave patterns, is a state of deep sleep, or trance-like consciousness. Maintaining awareness into delta can result in opening access to the unconscious portion of our consciousness.

A mental state of depressed mood
characterized by feelings of sadness, despair and discouragement. Depression
ranges from normal feelings of the blues through dysthymia to major
depression.
In many ways depression resembles the
grief and mourning that follow bereavement. There are often feelings of low self-esteem, guilt, and self-reproach, withdrawal from interpersonal contact, and
somatic symptoms such as eating and sleep disturbances.

A condition in which blood glucose is not
well-controlled. Type 1 diabetics make no insulin. Type 2 diabetics are
characterized by the overproduction of insulin, but the inability of the target
cells to respond to the insulin. Statistically, Type 2 diabetes reduces immunity by at least 90%
Why Diabetics should never apply heat to their feet: One complication of diabetes is damage to the small arteries at the greatest distance from the heart (the feet). When heat is applied locally, the skin demands more oxygen, but the arteries cannot supply it. This is a sure way to precipitate gangrene, since the definition of gangrene is when the tissue is not getting enough oxygen to survive.
Diagnosis and Symptoms (some advice)
Let us suggest an approach that is a little different. This seems very strange at first, but it is a highly effective way to see your symptoms melt away.
Stop focusing on a diagnosis. Stop. I know it goes against everything "medical" you have ever known, but do it. If you AT least suspend your focus on the question of "what to call it," you will have freed up a tremendous amount of energy. Now, take that energy and DEVOTE it to doing
everything you can to make yourself better by giving your body what it needs. I mean basically beginning a new approach to eating, but some exercise is important, and effective relaxation to defeat stress must also be incorporated.
See Walt's 3-legged Wellness Stool.
You will find that the way to end weird and varied symptoms is NOT by going from doctor to doctor and test to test to test to come up with a
name, a diagnosis. The way to stop most symptoms is to give your body what it needs to end the issues itself.
You see, symptoms are a complex equation. Sometimes a distinct disease with a name will be at the end of the equation. Many times it will not. However, your doctor will assume that there IS a disease behind your symptoms and
WILL waste your money, time, energy, and health by launching a search for what probably
isn't there. And, in the meantime, things are still getting worse, aren't they ?
Give your body what it needs (most people do not even come close!) and then see what signs your body is still giving of a major problem. THEN the signs will be much clearer. In the meantime, if you still think you want to play the name game with "professionals" who benefit from extending the process too long, at least find a doctor who can examine your biochemistry with modern techniques. You yourself
may wisely note that, on paper, you look fine. There's something obviously wrong with the paper, but most doctors
won't realize that. Perhaps check with the American Academy of Environmental Medicine to find a doctor who can assess things like your RBC zinc and chromium, or do a magnesium loading test, or a 24 hour urine sample test, etc.-- not their less effective, outdated equivalents. These doctors may not have the special focus you think you need, but they will have the knowledge to look at the right variables to create a picture of your health.
Dietary Theories Dietary
Theories Web Site
There are so many different dietary theories around that it is hard to know which one to try
first. No one diet is RIGHT for everyone, despite many book claims to the
contrary.
Diet Mal-adaptation and why there is NO one
right diet for everyone
Per Robert McFerran: ANY mal-adaptation creates a stress response in the human physiology.
Eating a diet that is mismatched to one's inherited metabolism WILL create some form of stress
response.
In some folks the stress response might be high blood pressure -- in others it might be low blood pressure. In some folks the
stress response is high blood sugar, in others it could be low blood sugar. It might also effect energy levels, mental stability, etc.
etc.
If a person continues to expose themselves to something to which they are poorly adapted, the stress response
eventually becomes a chronic illness. The chronic high blood pressure might lead to coronary disease, the chronic high blood sugar might lead to
diabetes, etc.
So the aim of finding your BEST diet is to find the foods to which you are BEST ADAPTED. Fortunately we have our
mind/body physiology to give us an indication of what is creating 'stress' on YOUR individual physiology.
If you are SERIOUS about exploring the above, you should run the elimination diet
to find and to eliminate the STRESS from specific foods (things that are called food
'allergies'). This will also give you a strong indication of
which metabolism you've inherited (H/G, Mixed,
or AG), and you can 'test' foods that would work best for you with this
specific metabolism.
Your physiology will tell you your BEST diet for you. A pre-specified diet (of any type) will only work if you are lucky.
Do you feel lucky?
Digestive System
The digestive system, which extends from the mouth to the anus, is responsible for receiving food, breaking it down into nutrients (a process called digestion), absorbing the nutrients into the bloodstream, and eliminating the
indigestible parts of food from the body. The digestive tract consists of the mouth, throat, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and anus. The digestive system also includes organs that lie outside the digestive tract: the pancreas, the liver, and the gallbladder.

Dis-ease
Extraordinary
Health: Maximize Your Sense of Well-being On All Levels
An alteration in the state of the body or
of some of its organs, interrupting or disturbing the performance of the vital
functions, and causing or threatening pain and weakness; malady; affection;
illness; sickness; disorder.
Energetic Explanation for Dis-ease: We are each filled with universal life force energy. It is the essence of our beings, our consciousness, and our souls. As the flow of life force energy moves through the physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies, it can become imbalanced, stagnant, or blocked. We then experience what is called dis-ease.
Dis-ease, as the term suggests, is lack of ease. It is the inability of one's life force energy to flow freely.
Dis-ease is the reaction to imbalanced life force energy in the physical, emotional, or spiritual body. This imbalanced energy can manifest as physical problems, as well as life patterns and cycles that keep us from growing.
Dis-ease can manifest in the physical body in the form of headaches, back pain, arthritis, or cancer. It can manifest in the emotional body in the form of anger, rage, phobias, depression, and hate. It can also manifest in the spiritual body, appearing as narrow-mindedness, disrespect for life and nature, or materialism.

DMSO
write-up
An industrial solvent sometimes used
topically to reduce pain and swelling, and as a drug-delivery system, because it
penetrates the skin quickly and deeply without damaging it. You can get DMSO at any veterinarian or
health food store. Do not use it at a greater strength than 50%, since the higher strengths might be irritating to sensitive skin.
Doing Wellness, or any significant lifestyle change, for that matter, FOR /TO
another person
Remember the question: "How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb?"
Answer: "Only one, but the light bulb has to really WANT to change."
You cannot do wellness, or make any other significant lifestyle change for/to
another person. They have to WANT to change.

I have learned that you usually don’t hurt where you hurt and that most of what ails us is, in a way, self-inflicted. Poor choices of diet is the number one culprit. The second is the belief that health comes from outside the body. The ultimate
determinant is the patient's desire to do what he has to do to get better.
Drug Roulette
The dangerous game you play which is too often encouraged by
the entire medical/pharmaceutical complex: "Take this drug for the
side-effects THAT drug caused; and then come back so we can give you more drugs
to deal with the side-effects the last drug caused; ad
infinitum."

DX - Diagnosis
Dysautonomia
Walt's Dysautonomia
Q&A Archive
Dysautonomia, in its easily reversible stage, consists of an imbalance of the
autonomic and endocrinological systems' function due to a homeodynamic resetting of function most commonly caused by chronic
stress-effect storage in the
hypothalamus. See Selye, Pelletier, and
Benson.
Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) , Neurocardiogenic Syncope, Mitral Valve Prolapse Dysautonomia, Pure Autonomic Failure,
Multiple System Atrophy (Shy-Drager Syndrome), and Diabetes Mellitus are some of the many disorders that involve
Dysautonomia.
Dysbiosis
Intestinal Dysbiosis and the Causes of
Disease Link
A state of living with intestinal flora
that has harmful effects. It can be described as being due to either
putrefaction, fermentation, deficiency, or sensitization. A number of
inflammatory diseases within the bowel or involving skin and connective tissue
have been reported in association with Dysbiosis.
Walt says: There are about 500+ varieties of normal bacteria in the gut that work together to create an environment that discourages all kinds of pathogenic bacteria and parasites (of which
candida is just one). An imbalance of that ecology is called
Dysbiosis. ALL people with
LGS will eventually get Dysbiosis and then eventually get parasitosis. Once they get to this stage, they all will have
environmental sensitivities (of which food is just the easiest to deal with).
Dysrrhythmia Walt's Atrial Fibrillation
Summary and Q&A Archive
Abnormal heart rhythm. Walt says the 2 main factors of chronic cardiac dysrrhythmias
that are within our control are low intracellular magnesium
and chronic stress-effect storage in the hypothalamus.
The solution to the former is, of course, raising the intracellular magnesium,
and so far, the only resolution to the latter is Effective Skilled
Relaxation. Neither of these approaches can interfere with any conventional treatment and neither has any negative side effects.
