E-Diet - Elimination Diet
Walt's Metabolic Type and
ER4YT Diets Q&A Archive
An elimination/challenge diet used to determine
food sensitivities and to determine your metabolic type (H/G,
Mixed, or AG). The foods on the E-diet have a low
allergenic potential (notice the lack of grains, milk, soy, etc. -- all common food allergens).
The expressed purpose of the E-diet is to get symptoms under control quickly and then
to test foods one by one to determine what are the 'triggers' of the person's symptoms.
Echo Response in E-Diet: Robert does not see it too often, but
he has seen what Dr. Mansfield calls an 'echo response' which usually occurs on the 6th or 7th day.
The person has gradual improvement, only to wake on the 7th day to feel joint and muscle pain are back full force (depression too). Happily these pains will go away within 36 hours.
If this happens, continue with only the safe foods.
Robert only sees this phenomenon in about 1 out of 20 people. He has no idea why this happens, but it does humble
him when trying to understand the complex nature of our immune system.
Food Testing Phase in E-Diet: After withdrawal, you'll experience 'clearing' (you'll feel good). Then and only then can you start testing foods one by one. Most reactions
to foods being tested occur within 45 minutes to 4 hours after
ingestion.
The exceptions are ALL the grains and milk (or any other milk containing products). They need to be eaten 3 times a day for 4 consecutive days to get a true read on their effects. This is one reason why you should also reserve them for testing at the end of the
list of foods you plan to test.
You should test foods from the CORE FOODS for each category first. Core foods are both appropriate for the
Hunter-gather metabolism and have a low allergenic profile.
Next you should pick from the SUPPLEMENTAL FOODS. These foods are metabolically appropriate but also have a higher incidence of creating food allergy.
Avoid Foods can be tested in small quantities. They are NOT metabolically appropriate AND they have a higher incidence of inducing allergic reactions.
Eliminate Foods should not be tested due to their high probability of producing allergy or enteric damage.
Your strategy will be to eat the foods that you are best adapted first so that you can expand your diet beyond the list of safe
foods on the metabolic diet. If and when you have a 'reaction' to a tested food, you will realize that it can take a day for the symptoms to abate. During that time you cannot test any new foods.
E-Diet effect on colon bacteria: ANY radical shift in diet will take as much as 6 months for the colon bacteria to catch up with the change. During that time, there will be fermentation in the gut that often
causes a change in body odor and breath odor. This, too, shall pass.
Then, if you are ever so foolish as to suddenly switch back to your old "bad" diet, the same thing will happen
until the bacterial balance matches THAT diet.
3 levels (at least) of food intolerance:
1. Being allergic (acute reaction, will never be resolved). (Example: Peanuts
Allergy, which can Kill!)
2. Being addicted (chronic reaction, can be resolved by avoidance for a period, then limiting your ongoing exposure).
(Example: Refined Carbohydrates)
3. Being metabolically unsuited, but not actually addicted (chronic reaction, but
you don't need to avoid for a particular time period,
just limit exposure). (Example: Grains)
Ear Conditions Walt's Ear Problems including Hearing Q&A Archive
EAV - ElectroAcupuncture according to Voll
It measures resistance on the acupuncture
points/channels. Very interesting, but not easy to interpret the
results.
EBV - Epstein Barr Virus
Walt's Epstein Barr and Chronic
Fatigue Summary and Q&A Archive
A species of Herpetoviridae virus that is responsible
for infectious Mononucleosis (glandular fever) and Chronic
EBV. Acute EBV is normally called mononucleosis. The recurrent and chronic form of EBV is called Chronic EBV. There is a world of difference in the approaches to
treating each.
Walt says: Once one has "mono", It is like trying to lock the barn door after the horse had been stolen. The primary options then are
relaxing (Of course, Skilled Relaxation is a LOT more effective than just lying there or sleeping.) AND at least 50 grams of vitamin
C IV per day for 5 days. OR, one can try to get enough Esterfied
vitamin C in orally to do this (vitamin C to bowel
tolerance--loose
stools--usually about 15 grams of Ester-C a day [in divided doses]) for several weeks.
Chronic EBV, CFS, and like conditions are all caused by the same basic mechanisms and are resolved by very similar approaches, which deal with those causes or at least enough of the aggravating mechanisms that the
bodymind can re-establish a much healthier homeodynamic. Which syndrome any individual experiences is a lot more due to the genetic susceptibility of that individual than it is to any actual causes.
Walt says any one who practices the
3 legs of the "wellness" stool will have none of these conditions within 6 months.
Eczema
A boil-like dermatitis, often oozing,
crusting, and thickening the skin. See LGS and CRS for causes and
Wellness for
permanent cure. Eczema does not affect the palms of the hands.
Education
"Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself
DO the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not." -- Walter Bagehot
EDS - ElectroDermal Screening
It measures resistance on the acupuncture

results.
EDTA - Ethylene Diamine Tetra acetic Acid
A chelating agent.
EEG - ElectroEncephaloGram

Essential Oils Q/A Summary Walt's
Essential Oils Article Barleans Organic Oils
The three fatty acids required for growth
in mammals: arachidonic, linolenic and linoleic acids. Only linoleic acid needs
to be supplied in the diet. The other two can be made from it. See FTH-FTK
book.
EPA is Eicosapentaenoic Acid (an omega 3 oil)
DHA is Docosahexaenoic Acid (an omega 3 oil)
ALA is Alpha Linolenic Acid (an omega 6 oil)
GLA is Gamma Linolenic Acid (an omega 6 oil)
LA is Linoleic Acid (an omega 6 oil)
Storing EFA in capsules
Until the bottle is open, you don't HAVE to refrigerate them, since the good companies pack them in nitrogen or vacuum.
Once opened, oxygen perfuses through even capsule walls and the process of peroxydation
starts, leading to rancidity.
Walt keeps all of his oils in the refrigerator just as anything with oil in it should be kept (nuts, etc.).
EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique
Emotional Freedom Technique Web Site
The existing EFT theory is that "The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system." In simplest terms, EFT is an emotional form of acupuncture, except that
they don't use needles. Instead, they tap with the fingertips to stimulate certain meridian points while the client is "tuned in" to the problem.
Further, EFT often provides relief for a very wide range of physical symptoms, and provides unmistakable evidence of the link between our physical ailments and our unresolved emotional issues.
See the EFT web site linked above for a free downloadable EFT manual and learn how to do the technique
yourself (it only takes a minute to go through the tapping round once).
EHCD - The Environmental Health Center-Dallas
EHCD Web Site
One of the oldest and most advanced centers in the world addressing health and
dis-ease as it relates to the environment. With a staff of more than 70, including
physicians, surgeons, scientists, nutritionists, acupuncturist, homeopaths, and physical therapists, the center provides full-service medical and surgical care with a special emphasis on the impact of environmental factors on the human body.
EKG - ElectroCardioGram
A recording of the electrical activity of the
heart on a moving strip of paper. The electrocardiogram detects and records the
electrical potential of the heart during contraction, using electrical signals
picked up on the outside of the body.
Eliminate Foods (E-Diet)
Walt's Metabolic Type and ER4YT
Diets Q&A Archive
These foods must be completely removed from your
diet. People with arthritis tend to be very poorly adapted to these ‘new’
foods. These foods all have a high allergenic potential. Many (especially grains
and milk products) can directly damage and increase the permeability of the
intestinal lining (LGS). This intestinal damage also limits the absorption of
important vitamins and minerals.

Enlightenment
To be immersed in and surrounded by peace.
Whenever you are about to act, ask yourself the question, "Is what I am abut to say or do going to bring me peace?" If the answer is yes, then
go ahead with it and you will be allowing yourself the wisdom of your highest self. If the answer is no, then remind yourself that it is your ego at work.
Epictetus quote: "It is impossible for anyone to begin to learn what he believes he already knows."
--Epictetus (c.a.d. 55-c135)
Walt says that this truth has not changed for more than 2000 years. It will likely still be true when the sun goes dark.

A diet book by Peter D'Adamo. Proposes that a person's blood type can both influence health and explain
an individuals' reactions to foods, and presents four different plans, based on blood type, for diet, exercise, and good health.
This diet works for some people, but not for others. See also Robert McFerran's unpublished work on Metabolic
Diets.
Era I - Medicine Era I
See Dossey Reinventing Medicine
Mechanical, conventional, or orthodox medicine - Mid 1800s to Mid 1900s.
Medicine became a science, a method of practice supported by respected theories
and undergirded by the accepted laws of nature. Scientists at that time regarded
the entire world, including human bodies, as a mindless machine. Consciousness
was increasingly seen as a material process that could be equated with the
workings of the physical brain.
Era II - Medicine Era II
Mind-body medicine, holistic medicine - Mid 1900s to Late 1900s. Realization and utilization of
the fact that one's mind could affect one's body, sometimes dramatically. Practitioners became aware of the intimate connection between the body and the mind and how the mind influenced the health of the physical body.

Nonlocal mind medicine - Late 1900s on. We rediscover the ancient
realization that consciousness can free itself from the body, and that it has
the potential to act not just locally on one's own body, as in Era II, but also
nonlocally on distant things, events, and people, even though they may be
unaware that they are being influenced. Adds on top of Era II medicine, does not
replace it.

Exacerbation
An increase in the severity of a disease or its symptoms. The opposite of remission.
ALL healing processes are gradual with remissions and exacerbations. It is just that the remissions tend to be further apart and the exacerbations less severe till it is over. If you keep a diary you will see this. Often, until you have been doing the
SR correctly for about 6 months, your exacerbations can still be bad.
Remember that the natural progression of chronic conditions is expecting each exacerbation to be MORE severe.

Instinctual behavior. It is involuntary, reactive, self-preservation, with the primary goal of just getting from one day to the next, without regard to
the quality of life.
Expectorants vs. Suppressants for Coughs
Walt Says: Expectorants are MUCH more physiological AND much more conducive of eliminating the causes
of coughs than suppressants are. Coughs do not happen just to annoy you! They happen because either there is something to cough up (wet cough)
OR because of an irritant in the tubes (dry cough).
The expectorant loosens up the cough so that you can wash away the irritant. All the suppressant does is keep it there. Using the
suppressant, alone, is EXACTLY like taping over the warning lights on the dashboard.
