My friend, a female in her early forties, has been having chest pains for the last couple weeks. The pain can be different every time: sometimes she feels this sharp burning pain in the middle of her chest that goes away as fast as it comes - after 3-4 seconds. Sometimes shs gets a dull pain that's accompanied by the urge to burp (especially when she's in bed). Other times she feels tightness that can last from 5 to 30 minutes and it can be anywhere from the upper chest to the stomach area. And, lastly, she gets pinching pain on either the left or right side that feels like it's inside her breasts. This kind of pain is fleeting but can recur several times during the day. She gets alleviation when she lies on her stomach and stretches her chest muscles. She has no shortness of breath and the pain doesn't radiate to other parts of the body. She can get it upon awakening, while doing housework or sitting at the computer. Sometimes there's tenderness to the touch and sometimes not.
Oh, she's just telling me that 5-6 years ago she had shortness of breath and some chest pain (although much milder and less bizarre than now) and she had a battery of tests then, including an echocardiogram and a stress test that were normal. However, she is still concerned there's something wrong with her heart. She hates seeing doctors but I convinced her to make an app. for next week. Until then, what's your insight on this?

Sylvia

PS. Another thing she just told me. She had a physical two months ago and all bloodwork was fine.
