Walt,
I just had an MRI with gadolinium contrast due to a finding of hepatic lesions on an ultrasound. The MRI report states that there are two small (less than 3cm)hyperplasias in the left lobe of my liver. My doc says that I've most likely had them since birth and that they're noncancerous. He wants to do another MRI in 3 - 6 months to monitor it for any changes.
Am I receiving good advice from my doc? Also, in doing a bit of internet research, one report I came across shows a link between lesions in the liver with vascular malformations in the brain. This caused a red flag to go up because I had an uncle that died of a ruptured aneurysm when he was just 41. The aneurysm was due to what they called an AV anomaly, which I've found is a vascular malformation in the brain. (I do not know if he had hepatic lesions though - - not even sure that they would have checked). Do you think this connection is something to be concerned with. Its hard as a nondoctor to try to intrepret the significance of medical research available on the internet. I sure would appreciate your opinion. Thank you!
