I have suffered from various problems for about six years, on and off. I'm sure that my stomach is the cause of them.
My main* symptoms are:
- muscle tremors, particularly when low on food or water. Most common in my arms and legs.
- tight muscles in my legs that won't relax
- *recurrent gas after eating food - worse in the mornings. This makes me feel weak, shaky, nervous, depressed and tired. Releasing it, not always easy (see below), provides relief. This is much worse if I have drunk alcohol (the night before) or coffee on an empty stomach, or eaten fatty foods, the worst being olive oil.
For a while, I experimented by eating very light meals in the evenings (just a sandwich). This made my 'next morning' symptoms (and my gastritis) much worse.
It is a constant battle to eat enough food to keep me going, though I am quite poor at eating food in sufficient quantity in the mornings. Generally speaking, I feel better in the afternoons and evenings after my lunch. I am not overweight and have always been thin.
I get a nagging pain in my stomach when low on food (acid is burning my stomach) and was diagnosed with gastritis by a doctor who put a camera down (he showed me photos of my inflamed stomach lining). he also found h pylori. I took the antibiotics for a week and omeprazole to lower stomach acids for a month. It made no difference at all.
This is an example of a 'funny turn':
Last Friday, I went for a drink after work. I thought it would just be a pint of beer so I had a glass of milk before I went to 'line my stomach'. I ended up having three pints. Felt fine, went home, cooked dinner, digested it, went for a walk, got up next morning, had breakfast, then an hour later started feeling terrible (it is always the point shortly after my breakfast hits my stomach that I am at my worst). I felt like I was going to collapse, felt sick, dizzy, shaky, nervous, my legs were weak and my muscles were tight.
If I can lean over my bed, take a wind-eze tablet and bring up as much gas as possible, I usually feel better. Going for a walk can help too.
Doctors have told me that I have a 'cup and spill' stomach which means it is an unusual shape and does not allow me to burp (my sister has the same problem). Food therefore slowly repeats on me. By improvising and positioning my stomach (leaning forward) I can usually release it. Unreleased, the gas makes me feel like I have the flu (I have been known to spend a weekend in bed with this problem).
I have had a lot of antibiotics in my life and a fair amount of stress. When all this started six years ago, I was under a lot of stress at work and had also taken a lot of antibiotics (for several weeks) as I had a terrible sinus blockage (this had to be removed surgically). Since then, things have never really been right, though the extent of the problems does fluctuate.
I wasted nine months of my life trying various anti-candida diets (cutting down on carbs makes me feel terrible and my weight falls away sharply, the tremors in my limbs get worse and I feel really depressed if i do this - not just for a few days but until I start eating carbs again).
I have spent a fortune flying to Cyprus to see a doctor, having conference calls with a doctor in New York, buying antifungals. Nothing has ever worked.
If I take antifungals, I feel itchy for an hour or so afterwards. Likewise, if I take an oxygen/detox supplement eg cellfood i get itchy too. Not sure whether this is a detox symptom, or a reaction.
I moved to London a year ago and since I did then my symptoms worsened. My lifestyle down here involves a lot of rich food (client lunches) and more alcohol. I am not a heavy drinker but I am a frequent drinker.
Milk and water both help to some degree.
A few months ago, i had to be taken to hospital at night as I had terrible stomach pains. It turned out to be pancreatitis. My alcohol consumption at that time had been very low, but that evening I had eaten a large quantity of barbequed lamb. This has never recurred. I have had my blood sugars tested, along with countless other things (heart scans, blood pressure, blood samples, etc) - all normal. I was tested for parasites by great smokies (and other places) - normal.
There was a time a few years ago when I had to take a calcium/magnesium supplement twice a day to stop my whole body from shaking.
Eating more food helps but is difficult to maintain.
Can you help me?
