Hi Dr. Stoll,
I was trying to grate parmesan cheese (the good stuff!) and ran my knuckle over the metal hand grater. Very painful and bloody! Saved the cheese, fortunately.
The skin peeled back in several short strips, but is still attached. It bled quite a bit, ran it under running water then stopped it with pressure. It looks good--clean with no evidence of infection, and I have feeling in the skin flaps.
Do you think the skin over this owie will eventually knit together? It's mostly healed underneath the flaps, but will still bleed/ooze a little if I hit it on something by accident.
It's the index finger of my right (dominant) hand, but I have been protecting it with breathable bandaids, day and night, for a week now since I cut it. When the bandaid gets wet I take it off, wash the finger, and let it air dry a little, then apply another one. I'm not putting anything on it otherwise.
It seems to be taking a while to heal, but most cuts do for me. Anything I could do the speed healing (besides switching to food processor)? I was wondering about putting a drop of colloidal silver on it.
Thanks!
Nutmeg
