After reading so much about how sleeping in total darkness is supposed to be better for health, I decided to try it. Problem is that my apt windows are too big for shades. So I decided to use blackout eye shade mask like what people use on planes. Is this sufficient or does the entire body have to be in total darkness? The only issue I've noticed so far is that it is MUCH harder to wake up in the morning because the mask gets rid of visual cues such as the room naturally getting lighter. This makes me rather groggier and more depressed than usual in the mornings now. How can this be good for health? Also, how is it natural to sleep in total darkness -- stars are very bright etc? I suffer from SAD so maybe this total darkness stuff isn't for me. Opinions please?
