Well, they don't recognize mice as food because they've never had any. I've tried several ways and occasions of giving them mice, with no success. The ground mice I got is too "gamey" and they are not used to it. And they don't even recognize whole mice as prey. Maybe if they were alive! But I'm not going to try that.

If I had access to free healthy live mice, I would go to all the trouble to teach them that it is food. But since it is expensive and a lot of trouble, they'll just have to survive on chicken, pork, and turkey.

Actually if I had a lot of time and energy, I'd try to figure out how to raise mice for my cats and for sale (and then teach them to have a taste for it). But I hear it's not easy raising mice (I talked to some guys who raise them for live reptile food), and I have too many other things going on.
